Beggars and Buskers

By on Saturday 19th May, 2012

If all the things that we own
Were stolen from another soul
If every ounce o’ work we do
Just feeds the monkeys in the zoo
Who are we to point and name
Our culture’s reinforced by shame
So quick to judge dish out the blame
While our inner lion’s chained and tame

Cuz the people slave drivin’ want a BLACK SHEEP
So they can scapegoat all their troubles and frustrations REAL CHEAP
Well excuse me ‘fore you accuse me of SLANDER n FRAUD
Why dont you look into the mirror for the WHORE

Here’s to the
Beggars and buskers, jokers and thieves
Our friends on the fringe of our society
To the squatters and skippers, clowns and the crooks
Who refuse to conform to your charm and good looks

If every penny that we make
Is either stolen or is fake
If all the comfort of our home
Is built on empires, blood and bone
You ask “what dya do?” well, lemme think…
Don’t waste away good food and drink
No 9 to 5 well who am I?
To want a slice of the king’s pie

The people slave drivin’…

Here’s to the beggars…

[improvised – imitating pre-recorded tannoy announcement voice]
“There are now beggars and buskers operating on this train
please do not encourage their presence by supporting them”
“There are now crusties and pikeys on this train
Please spit on them as you pass by”
“There are now blacks, dogs and irish
Punks and prostitutes, gamblers and scoundrels
Faggots, feminists and commies on this train
Please kick throw them off at the next station”

The people slave drivin’…

Here’s to the beggars…

Here’s to the beggars, buskers, jokers and thieves
Our friends on the fringe of our society
So long as our temples and money breed need
There’ll be fellows and felons to feed of the greed
