Mbube

Rewrite of Mbube ‘Lion Sleeps Tonight’  stolen from Solomon Linda in the spirit of Seeger about the anti-colonialist prophecy of the Lion of Africa (black rebels) rising up and ousting the white colonial invaders… get everyone chanting then drop these lyrics on em!

In the jungle the mighty jungle the lion sleeps tonight
The dirty primitive african rebels are now too weak to fight

Hush my darling don’t fear my darling
The rebels are at bay
We killed their men and we raped their women and we’ve got guns not they

Near the village the rich white village the rebels wait tonight
They’ll avenge all the rape and pillage when it comes their time to strike

The lion of africa will rise again
To kick the savage white man out in the end

Hush my darling don’t fear my darling we’ll bribe the rebel’s friends
They’ll betray their own dear brothers and we will win again

In the jungle the mighty jungle we’re digging up the oil, building roads and polluting rivers so we can take the spoils

Near the village the peaceful village the men kill over jewels
Be it blood diamonds, cocoa or coffee they’re just a bunch of tools

Hush my darling don’t fear my darling mugabe has control
With kabila faithful dictators divide and conquer all

The lion of africa will rise again
To kick the savage white man out in the end
