What does it take to tell that someone “I’m a Spy”?
To say that “I kill for my country so it’s justified”
These are words, words, words
But sometimes they soul-search
So won’t you believe him when he says he believes in life

And what would it mean to reveal “he made free with me!”
Is it not just the same as to kneel, beg and plead “set me free!”
These are words, words, words
But sometimes they soul-search
So won’t you relieve her when she breaks down and cries

And what would you do if I told you
“I planted that bomb”
Would you attack at my conscience? Would you scream?
Or just break free and run?

These are words, all just words, simply words, merely words
But sometimes they shake up our world
So I ask myself
“Do you mean the world to me?”

How would it feel if I said “I was never on your side”?
Would it not feel the same as to say that the whole time I lied
These may be words, words, words
But sometimes they soul-search
So do try to trust me it’s the truth that I tried

And what would you say if I slept with Thatcherite,
Would you brush it aside, would you never look me in the same light?
These are words, words, words
But sometimes they soul-search,
So I’m sorry I’m seduced by sex over ideological fights

They’re all words, simply words, just some words, nought but words
And sometimes they shake up our world
So I ask myself
Oh I must ask myself
“Do you mean the world to me?”
