Spirit of Resistance

By on Saturday 19th May, 2012

As the paving slab is cracked
By the lone defiant weed
So in our conviction of
Resistance must we be
On a forgotten window in the
Soulless skyscraper ghettos we must
Trace a word of silent freedom
In the gathering layers of dust
As the ancient ways of the wounded warrior
Are branded, packaged and sold
We must dance in underground tunnels
Before our blood runs cold
And when we have all but lost our breath
To shout, to kick, scream and fight
We must whisper winds of memories
Of laughter, love and light
To our children, that is everyone,
Who will march on in our stead
Only then will the spirit of resistance
Never be said to be dead
