The Wilderness

By on Saturday 19th May, 2012

As all our trees are cut down
Roads kill the ground
As people move to gray blocks
They forget the sound
Of wild creatures, leaves, birds
Rains, winds and gails
The dying woodland’s left to
Dreams and fairytales

But in the Wilderness
A heart so strong
The ancient forest
And its people
Will always carry on

As all our plants, crops, fruit, veg
Are packaged, cloned and flown
No longer evolving with the land
Or eaten where they’re grown
Depend on drug-like chemicals
To nourish barren soil
Bought with money made from
Wars for foreign oil

But in the Wilderness
A heart so pure
The ancient forest
And its people
Will eternally endure

Tom Bombadil I’m coming home
I’m sorry I sold my soul whilst I was gone
The city tried to steal my light away
But I held on tight
For I knew of a brighter way…

Double locks on our boxes
Community is lost
Becoming scared of each other
How will we thaw the frost
By integrating ages
Backgrounds and ways
Rekindle love, trust, caring
In sharing common space

But in the Wilderness
Our hearts are so entwined
The ancient forest
And its people
Unite both body and mind

In the Wilderness
A heart so strong
The ancient forest
And its people
Will always carry on
